Beaded Mindscape — One-of-a-Kind Beaded Skull Sculpture

The mind does not think in straight lines.

Beaded Mindscape is a fully beaded skull sculpture — every surface covered in thousands of hand-placed seed beads flowing in sweeping organic bands of midnight black, cobalt blue, burnt orange, forest green, and white. No geometric pattern. No floral motif. Just pure movement — color following the natural contours of the form the way thought follows the contours of a life.

This is what the inside of a creative mind looks like when it is finally free to move.

I am Dequa — Cherokee and Irish, nearly seventy years old, doing the most ambitious work of my life. For forty years I ran a parallel existence: senior research administrator by day, bead artist in every quiet hour I could find. The career demanded logic, precision, structure. The beadwork demanded something else entirely — intuition, surrender, the willingness to follow a color into the unknown and see where it leads.

Beaded Mindscape is that surrender made permanent. Bands of color that travel where they want to go. A skull — the vessel of all thought — wearing its inner landscape on the outside.

Every bead placed by hand using a heritage beaded art technique my Cherokee grandmother taught me. A practice of patience, cultural memory, and love passed down through generations and now alive in this piece.

This is the only one. There will never be another exactly like it.
