When Curiosity Takes the Lead
By April, something shifts. The quiet beginnings of March begin to stretch outward. Ideas that were once whispers start asking for attention.
Creativity rarely arrives as a perfectly formed plan. More often, it appears as curiosity — a color combination you want to try, a texture that feels interesting, or a design that refuses to leave your thoughts.
This is the season where exploration matters more than certainty.
Creativity in the Studio
In my studio, creativity begins with play.
Sometimes that means experimenting with new color palettes. Other times it means stepping outside familiar techniques and letting beads move in unexpected directions.
This spirit of experimentation has also been guiding the evolution of my Sculptural Beadwork Collection, where dimensional forms — animals, skulls, ornaments, and art objects — allow beads to become structure and storytelling rather than adornment alone.
Creativity grows strongest when it is allowed to wander.
Jewelry as Expression
Jewelry often begins as something simple: a strand of beads, a small idea, a quiet moment of inspiration. Yet when those elements come together with intention, they become expressions of personality and memory.
The designs emerging this season celebrate color, movement, and creative freedom — reminders that art doesn’t need to follow rules to hold meaning.
Sometimes the best pieces are the ones that surprise us.

🌿 A Spring Tradition: Chain of Parks Art Festival
April also brings one of my favorite creative traditions of the year — the Chain of Parks Art Festival in Tallahassee.
Held April 18–19 in downtown Tallahassee’s historic park district, this nationally recognized festival gathers artists from across the country for a weekend dedicated to creativity, craftsmanship, and community.
For me, shows like this are a special opportunity to step out of the studio and share my work in person. Visitors can see the detail of beadwork up close, talk about the creative process, and experience the pieces as they were meant to be seen — in real life.
